Reporting Electric Shocks

Reporting Electrical Incidents

If an accident occurs that involves an electric shock a report must be made to the Technical Regulator by the electrical worker or occupier of the place in which the accident happens (Electricity (General) Regulations 1997 Regulation 31 Link to an external web site) within the following time frames:

  • In the case of a death resulting from the accident - immediately by telephone.
  • In the case of a person requiring medical assistance resulting from the accident - within 1 working day of the accident.
  • In any other case - within 10 working days of the accident.
