Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (including Renewable Energy Water Pumping)

The Commonwealth, through the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and the Government of South Australia through the Energy Division introduced the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP).

The existing program has an approved budget of $8.9 million in RRPGP funds to provide rebates of up to 50% of the initial capital costs of renewable energy installation in remote areas of South Australia.

For more information, please visit the RRPGP section.

Remote Areas Energy Supplies

The Remote Areas Energy Supplies (RAES) subsidy scheme is a Government-funded program with two major objectives:

  1. the provision of a reliable and quality electricity supply to remote 'off grid' communities in South Australia where the provision of such electricity would not be commercially viable.
  2. the provision of a subsidy to 'off grid' communities such that the cost of reasonable quantities of electricity is affordable.

Please visit the Remote Areas Energy Supplies section for more information.

Solar Homes and Communities Plan

The Solar Homes and Communities Plan (SHCP) commenced on the 13th of May 2008 and replaces the Photovoltaic Rebate Program (PVRP).  The SHCP provides cash rebates for the installation of photovoltaic systems on homes and community use buildings.  The new plan introduces a means test to target households with taxable incomes of less than $100,000 per annum.  Schools are not eligible for funding under this plan but can apply for grants under the National Solar Schools Program.

Please visit the Solar Homes and Communities Plan page for more information or visit the Australian Government's Department for the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts website.

National Solar Schools Program

The National Solar Schools Program (NSSP) commenced on the 1st of July 2008.  This program provides Australian schools with access to grants for solar power systems, rainwater tanks and a range of energy efficiency measures.

For more information, please visit the Department for the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts website.
